The Health Tourism Council participated in the “Come and Wear Your Socks” event organized by Nicosia Turkish Municipality on World Down Syndrome Day.

Stating that on March 21, World Down Syndrome Day, different topics are chosen and various events are organized in many parts of the world in order to raise social awareness, President of the Council Dr. Ahmet Savaşan stated that the “wear your socks and come” event organized by the Nicosia Turkish Municipality contributed to the development of awareness about Down Syndrome in Northern Cyprus.

MANY ARE ABLE TO BUILD SEMI-INDEPENDENT LIVES ...

Underlining that Down syndrome is not a disease, Dr. Ahmet Savaşan pointed out that education is the most important requirement for individuals with Down syndrome to be integrated into society. Underlining that individuals with Down syndrome should be raised consciously from infancy, Dr. Ahmet Savaşan said that people with Down syndrome are successful in society with the education initiated from birth. Stating that the increase in both learning and independent living levels with various education and therapies applied in the world in the last 40 years has led to great results, Savaşan said, “these special people can easily participate in social life in our age and most of them can lead semi-independent lives.”.

IT IS VITAL THAT THEY LIVE IN A CONSCIOUS FAMILY ENVIRONMENT...

Underlining that individuals with Down's syndrome have a highly developed sense of compassion, Savaşan emphasized that it is vital that these special people, who do not have behaviors such as selfishness, selfishness, love unconditionally, do not lie and deserve to be loved, live in a conscious family environment.
